Bruce Lowthers

Bruce Lowthers serves as President of the Payments division of FIS, where he is executive vice president of the world’s No. 1 ranked financial services technology provider. He is responsible for the $3 billion Payments division supported by more than 16,000 employees, delivering payments processing, ATM and network services, loyalty and fraud solutions as well as card personalization and production to financial institutions and retailers across the globe. Previously, Bruce has served FIS in a number of executive positions, including division executive of card services, head of product sales and global sales operations and general manager of the global payments software business. Prior to joining FIS, Bruce held the position of senior vice president of community markets for eFunds, where he was responsible for the P&L for all payment and risk products for that market. He also held executive officer positions at four startup companies. A longtime force in the payments industry, Bruce serves on the boards of the American Transaction Processors Coalition and the Armed Forces Financial Network. He also serves on the FPS board of the FIS/Bradesco joint venture and IBM DataFirst Client Council. Bruce was named 2017 Maverick of the year by The American Business Awards and International Business Awards. Bruce holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts and began his career as a certified public accountant.

Stephen Squeri
VP, CIO, American Express

Mr. Stephen J. Squeri, also known as Steve, has been Vice Chairman of American Express Company since July 2015 and has led the Business-to-Business Group since October 2015. Mr. Squeri served as Group President of Global Corporate Services at American Express Company from November 2011 to July 2015. He served as the Group President of Global Services at American Express Company from October 2009 to November 2011 and served as its Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President from May 2005 to October 2009. He served as an Executive Vice President of Corporate Development/Head of Corporate Development of American Express Company from July 2008 to September 2010 and oversaw mergers and acquisitions. He joined American Express as a manager in Travelers Cheque Group (TCG) in 1985 and held senior roles at TCG, worldwide Marketing and Establishment Services (ES). He served as President of the Global Commercial Card group from January 2002 to 2005, where he led the global division that markets American Express Corporate Card and American Express Corporate Purchasing Card to mid-sized and large companies. From 2000 to 2002, he served as the President of Establishment Services Canada and the United States where he oversaw American Express’ efforts to grow merchants’ businesses through innovative marketing and e-commerce programs and managed merchant acquisition efforts. From 1982 to 1985, he was a management consultant at Arthur Andersen and Company. He has been a Director of J. Crew Group, Inc. since June 2012. He serves as Director of Madewell Inc. He has been an Independent Director of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America since 2009. He serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of New York Downtown and Harlem Children's Zone. He serves as a Member of the Board of Governors Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School. He served as Director of J. Crew Group, Inc. from September 2010 to March 2011. Mr. Squeri holds an M.B.A. degree and a B.S. degree from Manhattan College.

Dan Pilling

Dan joined Barclays from Citi in 2007. He has spent almost all his career within the Payments and Cash Management working in Operations and Technology. Since joining Barclays he has worked within the Corporate Strategy and Architecture team, led the Analysis and Design team for the Global Payments Utility programme and managed the Corporate and PCB Portfolio Management function. In June 2015, he took on the Leadership of the Payments CIO function accountable for Payments Technology Globally

SHI Wenchao has long been engaged in managing financial markets and conducting macro-economic analysis and research. From 2007 to 2013, as Secretary-General of NAFMI, he led NAFMI to achieve leapfrog development of Chinese interbank debt market. He took the position of President of China UnionPay Co., Ltd in August 2013. Since then, he has been committed to building an open and comprehensive payments platform and a brand with global prominence to ensure robust growth of Chinese payments industry. Mr. Shi is a senior economist in China and a mentor of graduate program students. He has a doctorate degree in economics.

As Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Walker is responsible for Elavon’s global acquiring business, leading more than 4,000 employees in the United States, Canada, Mexico and throughout Europe. Since joining Elavon in 2001, Walker has expanded his role and responsibilities by driving the vision and setting the strategy for the company to achieve solid results. From managing complex initiatives, including acquisitions and international expansion in his role as Chief Financial Officer for Elavon, to assessing risk and opportunities for sustainable, strategic growth in his role as Chief Administrative Officer for U.S. Bank’s Payment Services division, Walker has continually set his sights on how to help Elavon and U.S. Bank succeed. Walker holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in accounting and marketing from Emory University and remains an active member in the Atlanta community.

Morgan M. “Mac” Schuessler, Jr. has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Evertec since April 2015. Mr. Schuessler has over 20 years of payment industry leadership experience. He has served as President of International for Global Payments Inc. (NYSE: GPN, “Global Payments”), one of the world’s leading payment processing providers, overseeing the company’s businesses outside of the Americas since 2012. The businesses under his leadership spanned 23 countries throughout Europe and Asia, and encompassed more than 40% of the company’s employees. From 2008 to 2012, Schuessler served as Global Payments’ Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer with responsibility for the company’s global operations, human resources, corporate marketing and communications, real estate services and money transfer business. In this position, he led the implementation of the worldwide credit and risk function, and the creation of the company’s first global operations center in Manila, Philippines. Prior to joining Global Payments, Schuessler served in several leadership positions with American Express, Inc. including Vice President, Global Purchasing Solutions, with responsibility for managing the company’s purchasing card business globally. Additionally, he served in various sales, marketing, strategy and product management positions. Schuessler was a member of Visa’s Senior Client Council and the UnionPay International Member Council, the international division of China UnionPay (CUP). He holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University and an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School where he currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Dean’s Advisory Board.

Barry McCarthy
Executive Vice President and Head of Network & Security Solutions, First Data

Barry McCarthy serves as EVP, Head of Network and Security Solutions (NSS). The $1.6 billion NSS segment includes all of the firm’s network, debit, prepaid, ACH/check, fraud, security, secure digital distribution, online and mobile banking, and government solutions. Collectively these businesses process more than $3 trillion in annual volume and support more than one billion cardholders. Previously, Barry was responsible for the turnaround of the firm’s Financial Services segment. In 18 months, he moved revenue growth from -4% to +7%. He was also a leader in the historic collaboration with Apple™ on Apple Pay™, ran the merchant business in Asia, and was responsible for creating the best-selling First Data-branded line of point-of-sale terminals, whose vertical integration strategy continues today with the firm’s Clover platform. Prior to First Data, Barry led the turnaround of the VeriSign payment business that was acquired by PayPal. He also co-founded and later sold MagnaCash, a Silicon Valley-based micropayments company, whose technology, through subsequent transactions, is currently owned by Digital River. Barry first entered the payments technology industry at Wells Fargo, where he was responsible for overseeing 14 million cards and 6,500 ATMs. He started his career at Procter & Gamble, where he spent 12 years in brand, customer marketing, and sales management roles. Barry is the chairman of a new, public-private partnership called  FinTech Atlanta. He served as the 2015 Chairman of TAG, the nation’s largest technology association with more than 30,000 members, and has twice served as Chairman of the Georgia Technology Summit (GTS).

Devin McGranahan
Group President, Billing & Payments, Fiserv, Inc.

With Fiserv since 2016, Devin McGranahan is Group President of Billing and Payments at Fiserv, Inc. He oversees the company’s Biller, Lending, Output Solutions and Financial Risk Management Solutions businesses. McGranahan most recently served as a senior partner at McKinsey and Company, engaging with leading financial services companies on a broad range of strategy, payments and business-building opportunities. He also held a variety of management roles at the firm, including leader of the Global Insurance Practice and co-chair of the Global Senior Partner Election Committee. In addition, McGranahan served as co-leader of the North America Financial Services Practice. Prior to McKinsey, Devin worked in finance at PepsiCo and in product engineering at General Motors. McGranahan has more than 25 years of business and leadership experience.

Emily Reid
Partner, Hogan Lovells

Over 30 years, Emily has built a reputation for delivering innovative ideas and solutions to Fintech companies and established players. She has extensive experience in the law, regulation, payment schemes and other infrastructure that apply to the fast-moving payments, consumer finance, merchant acquiring and banking industries. Emily is working increasingly on projects where technology is disrupting the traditional relationships between banks and their customers, increasing competition and creating new products and where Blockchain will drive further change, not just to crypto-currencies. She is ranked in band 1 (and as a star performer) in the Directories for payments and consumer finance. Emily has held a number of leadership roles within Hogan Lovells. She’s served two terms on the Global Board (including one term pre-combination), as a Group Manager and co-chair of Hogan Lovells Citizenship Programme and the Implementation Committee. Her focus is currently on innovation within clients and within Hogan Lovells (most recently the launch in July 2017 of Hogan Lovells Regulatory Consulting). Emily is on Business in the Community’s Community Leadership team and a governor of Westminster School.

J Allen Maines is the Executive Partner in Holland & Knight’s Atlanta office. Mr. Maines has served as lead trial counsel to some of the world’s largest entities in controversies of major significance, including cross-border international securities and shareholder disputes, competitive disputes (non-compete agreements, antitrust and unfair competition), intellectual property claims, consumer claims including privacy, business torts including fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty actions.  Recent engagements involve the heath care, payment processing, service, financial and telecom/Internet industries.

Since founding InComm in 1992, Brooks Smith has been an early pioneer of the prepaid platform and point-of-sale activation technology. Under his leadership, what started as a company focused on the technology supporting the sale of long-lead distance phone cards has grown to be the leader of the prepaid technology industry. Mr. Smith has more than 20 years of senior management experience in sales and marketing. He is respected by industry leaders for his innovative work in shaping a prepaid product distribution network and was named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007. As CEO, Mr. Smith spearheads all efforts to connect the industry’s leading product providers with many of the world’s largest retailers. He has established valuable relationships with leading retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, CVS and 7-Eleven in addition to global product brands like iTunes, Sony, Google, Amazon, Starbucks, AT&T and Verizon.

Eric Brier
Group CIO, Ingenico Group

Graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Eric Brier started his career in the late nineties as military engineer for the French Navy. He contributed there to the development of Combat Management System for warships and submarines. Having moved to the smartcard manufacturing company Gemplus, he specialized in embedded cryptography and research. When the company merged into Gemalto, he extended his scope to applied research and business development. Eric has been with Ingenico Group for nine years as Chief Security Officer, having responsibilities over security for payment terminals and processing solutions worldwide. He is also member of the PCI SSC Board of Advisors and the Observatoire de la Sécurité des Cartes de Paiement, collaborating with French national bank.

Mike Passilla
Vice Chairman Chase Commerce, JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Mike Passilla has been Vice Chairman of Commerce Solutions at JP Morgan Chase & Co. since 2016. Before, Mr. Passilla served as CEO of Merchant Services at Chase Payment Solutions and JP Morgan Chase & Co. Passilla joined Chase in 2013 from Elavon, a payments processing firm. At Elavon, he served as President and CEO. He has more than 28 years of sales, marketing and consulting experience in building winning sales organizations and optimizing marketing relations. He has been Head of Business Intelligence Practice of Inforte Corp. and served as Executive Vice President of North America of Inforte Corp. He joined Inforte Corp in 1999 and was General Manager of its largest business unit, Media, Entertainment, Communications, & Services (MECS). Prior to Inforte, he spent time at CSC Index, Pepsi, IBM, and the Walt Disney Company. Mr. Passilla is a Graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned an MBA from The J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Andrea Scerch

Andrea Scerch is the President of Mastercard Processing Services, which includes three business lines: Payment Gateway Services through which Mastercard enables merchants to accept digital payments across multiple channels, brands, and markets; Payment Transaction Services – the company’s technology provider that helps issuers and acquirers process payments; and Prepaid Management Services which acts as an end-to-end program manager that delivers prepaid programs backed by Mastercard’s safety, security and acceptance. He also sits on Mastercard’s Management Committee. Prior to this role, Mr. Scerch led Mastercard Payment Gateway Services where he was instrumental in transforming the business into a successful global business with a strong growth trajectory. In this capacity, he also spearheaded the integration of multiple businesses, including Transaction Network Services which was acquired in 2014. He has also served as Mastercard’s Head of Strategy for Europe, and Division President for Central Europe markets (Italy, Alpine, Greece and Germany). Under his leadership, the company strengthened its position across the region, achieved strong growth, and successfully deployed new payment technology in the markets. Before joining Mastercard, Mr.  Scerch was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company in Italy. He holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and has a degree in Economics and Business Administration, from La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.

Joel Leonoff

Joel is an entrepreneurial leader and a visionary with a proven track record of managing high-growth technology companies, having served as CEO, COO and CFO of privately and publicly traded companies for nearly 20 years. In 1997, Joel founded SureFire Commerce Inc., which merged with the Optimal Group in 2003 to form Optimal Payments, now known as Paysafe Group plc.  Joel was appointed as an Executive Director and Co-CEO of the Group on 1 February 2011 and President and CEO on 1 August 2011.Prior to this, Joel created the e-commerce powerhouse BCE Emergis through the merger of Mpact Immedia Ltd with Bell Canada Enterprises. Joel also served as Group Operations Director and COO of Partygaming plc, a FTSE listed company. Joel is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (James McGill Award) and has a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy (C.D. Mellor Award) from McGill University.

Kelley has overall responsibility/accountability for the delivery of the TSYS International strategy across multiple lines of business with specific focus on market/business development, sales, client account/service management, product and partnership engagement. Prior to TSYS, Kelley was CEO/Acting Chairman of Clear Money Ltd. (Clear), a provider of Electronic Bill Management Services to UK billers and financial institutions. Before Clear, Kelley was SVP of GE Capital’s Global Consumer Finance (GCF) cards business and was responsible for developing and executing GCF’s cards strategy and driving card-based consumer finance initiatives in over 15 markets around the world. Prior to GE Capital, he was SVP, Visa International, responsible for developing/marketing Visa’s debit products and introducing e-commerce solutions (security, chip and remote banking) throughout Europe. Before joining Visa, he worked for Simpson Paper Company, TRW and General Dynamics where his focus was on product/marketing strategies, pricing and risk/portfolio management. Kelley holds a BS in Accountancy and a MBA in Finance/International Business and is an executive director of numerous TSYS entities throughout the TSYS International segment, as well as non-executive director of various TSYS partnership entities around the globe.

Ellen Richey
Vice Chairman and Chief Risk Officer, Visa

Ellen Richey, who first joined Visa in 2007, serves as Vice Chairman and Chief Risk Officer. She leads risk management at Visa, including enterprise risk, settlement risk, and risks to the integrity of the broader payments ecosystem. She coordinates the company’s strategic policy initiatives and works with legislators, regulators and clients globally regarding payment system security and other matters of strategic importance to Visa. Ellen Richey also leads crisis management at the executive level and is a member of Visa’s Executive Committee. Richey received a B.A. in Linguistics and Far Eastern Languages from Harvard University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School, and served as a law clerk for Associate Justice Lewis F. Powell, Jr. of the United States Supreme Court.

Royal Cole
Executive Vice President, Head of the North American Region, Worldpay

Royal was appointed Executive Vice President, Head of the North American Region at Worldpay in January 2018. Prior to that, he was responsible for two of the largest business units in Vantiv, including Merchant Services and Financial Institution Services. He joined the company in March 2010 from Western Union where he was Executive Vice President and General Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and was responsible for strategic development of the Global Payment Services Group. While at Western Union, Royal also led the North American Distribution Network organization.
