Cyber Security experts join P20 working groups, produce results

[/vc_column_text][vc_video link="https://youtu.be/SnwQLrTxK6M" align="center"][vc_column_text]The P20 Atlanta conference featured some of the leading minds in cyber security, laying the ground work for innovation and collaboration at the 2019 P20 in London.Cyber security experts like David Bradbury of Symantec were on hand for the Atlanta conference, weighing in on pressing and relevant issues affecting society.“From a cyber security perspective, I have seen the real impact of what happens when you get this wrong in the financial services industry,” said Bradbury, SVP and Chief Security Officer at Symantec.“If we don’t look after the life blood of what is our digital economy, and for payments in particular … if we are not investing in that from a security perspective, then we’re not securing our futures.  That’s what inspires me to connect here, and I’m positive about the outlook the P20 has for cyber security in the payments industry.”The P20 Atlanta conference showcased results from working groups, comprised of top financial technology and payments industry leaders.  P20 Founder H. West Richards said the work that was accomplished is remarkable.“We assembled the first multi-company payments industry cyber war games simulation,” said Richards.  “We were able to demonstrate that real effort was made, and results were had.”Richards is referring to the cross-industry cyber war games exercise conducted at IBM’s X-Force Command Center.  The exercise required executives and experts to work through an industry-wide cyber attack in real-time.“That ties into our agenda of being an action-oriented conference,” said Richards.  “We’re not just a conference, we’re an organization that is actively meeting.  The board meets quarterly, we have agendas, we’re doing work, we’re reporting results.”“It’s all about taking action in this international ecosystem, driving results, and I believe we proved the model of what we set out to achieve.”Bradbury sees a benefit to the broader payments and FinTech landscape, as a result of the collaboration coming out of P20.“We are giving a voice to an industry,” said Bradbury.  “Payments, as an industry, is the backbone of our digital economy. It touches each and everyone of us. It is the life blood that runs through the veins of the digital economy. People don’t understand that, because we have not taken the time to spell that out and make sure they understand that.”The P20 returns to London in October, following its inaugural gathering there in 2017.  Cyber security will again take center stage as a key point of discussion and collaboration among industry leaders.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
